A Small Win After a Tough half term Week

A Small Win After a Tough half term Week

Hello lovely community,

After a week of illness over half term, it’s been a challenging patch to navigate. But in the midst of the rough, small wins shine through — and today I’m sharing one that feels especially meaningful for our makerspace community.

The good news: our project aprons have arrived

Today we received our project aprons for the Makerspace Hangout workshops. They’re not just any aprons — they’re:

Customized to fit our community group vibes

Gender-neutral, so everyone can feel included

Available in sizes from 3 years to adults, so every member of a family can participate

I’ve personally managed to self-fund a pack that covers 1 adult, 4 children aged 6–11, and 2 children aged 3–6. In an ideal world, we’d boost that to 4 more adults and 3 more children, but the costs are spiralling.

Why these aprons matter

Accessibility for all ages and sizes:** Our range from 3y to adult means no one is left out, whether you’re a seasoned maker or just starting out.

A sense of belonging:** The customization helps reinforce our community vibes — welcoming, inclusive, and safe.

Practical support:** Aprons protect clothes and keep tools and materials within reach, helping workshops run more smoothly and letting everyone focus on creating.

A note on funding

We are a not-for-profit, and we rely on donations, funding, and, quite often, self-funding to keep things running. If you’ve ever benefited from our workshops or simply believe in what we’re doing, your support matters.

Even small contributions make a difference. If you can donate even just £1 a month, you’d be helping us cover essential materials, space, and tools — and more importantly, sustaining the time we dedicate to running the sessions.

Every donation helps us move closer to offering more sessions, more inclusivity, and more opportunities for families to learn together.

Why I share this

As a parent navigating the daily realities of accessing neurodivergent support, I know firsthand how hard these journeys can be. I share this not only to celebrate a win but to remind you that there are families on similar paths who rely on community spaces like ours. Your support, big or small, helps ensure we can continue providing a safe, welcoming place for families to connect, learn, and create together.

How you can help

Donate:** Even £1 a month makes a meaningful difference. You can set up a small recurring gift today.

Spread the word:** Share our story with friends, colleagues, and local groups who might be interested in supporting inclusive community workshops.

Volunteer:** If you have time or skills to offer (crafting workshop assistance, we’d love to hear from you). Must be availiable 10th december 4-6pm

If you’d like to contribute, please reach out or visit our donation widget here on the website shop

Thank you for reading, supporting, and believing in the power of community spaces to bring families together, one small project at a time. Here’s to more inclusive, hands-on days ahead. Your generosity helps us keep the lights on, the spaces welcoming, and the tools ready for our next makerspace hangout.
