We call on policymakers to urgently review and amend the current Shared Care Agreement policy to better support families with neurodivergent children facing urgent and exceptional needs.

Currently, families like ours are facing significant financial and emotional hardship due to delays in NHS assessments, costly private assessments, and lack of protections during urgent situations such as sudden health declines or behavioral crises. The existing policy offers no safeguards for these critical moments, forcing families into financial hardship and risking the well-being of vulnerable children.

We urge for the introduction of protective measures, including financial caps, expedited assessment pathways, and clear guidelines for emergency situations, to ensure that families are supported and protected during times of urgent need.
