Join us for a creative and reflective makerspace session where you will design, decorate, and fill your very own positivity jar. Each jar will come with a starter pack of post-its and guidance to capture daily moments of pride. By New Year’s Eve 2026, you’ll have a jar full of notes that celebrate your year, and you’ll have the option to transform those notes into a lasting art piece for your home.

 

Event Details

Date & Time:** 5 January 2026, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Drop-in anytime within these hours)

Location:** noughts & crosses, scotgate, stamford

Price:** £5 per participant (open to adults & children) a great bonding activity 

Who:** Open to all ages; parents are welcome to participate too

Materials Provided:**

  Plastic jars (personalizable)

  Starter pack of post-its

  Permanent markers, decorative materials (stickers, washi tape, ribbons)

  Date tags and note cards

What to Bring:** Your enthusiasm, creativity, and choice of personal decoration. Pleaee note photos are best small and on paper dye to the shape of the jar. 

 

Workshop Flow

Welcome & Introductions (10 min)

   Quick icebreaker: share one small win from today or this week.

   Overview of the positivity jar concept and the end-of-year goal.

 

Jar Personalization (15–20 min)

   Decorate your plastic jar with paint pens, stickers, ribbons, and labels.

   Choose a meaningful name or theme for your jar.

 

Starter Pack Assembly (5–10 min)

   Fill your jar with the starter post-it notes.

   Add a few decorative elements to make it yours.

 

Daily Note Guideline & Practice (15–20 min)

   Write one note per day with something you did that day that you’re proud of.

   On the back of each note, write the date.

   Fold the note and place it in the jar.

   Tips:

     Be specific (e.g., “I completed my first 5 pages of the project plan.”)

     Include a short positive phrase if helpful (e.g., “I showed resilience today.”)

 

Open Floor for Creative Techniques (15–20 min)

   Demonstrations on creative folding, note presentation, and jar labeling.

   Optional: Add QR codes or tiny tags with reminders to revisit certain notes.

 

Close & Take-Home Guidance (5–10 min)

   How to preserve notes and keep the jar accessible.

   Suggestions for end-of-year reflection (New Year’s Eve 2026) and future art piece idea.

 

End-of-Year Plan (New Year’s Eve 2026)

Review the notes in your positivity jar and celebrate your achievements from the year.

Optional project: bring the jar to a future workshop to create an art piece from your notes to display at home.

 

Optional Art Piece Creation (Future Workshop january 2027)

Participants can:

  Dig through their notes to extract themes, colors, and moments.

  Create a collage, sculpture, or framed piece that represents their year.

  Use notes as a narrative layer within the art piece to hang at home as a visual reminder of resilience and success.

 

Accessibility & Inclusivity

Family-friendly and accessible for all ages.

Quiet space available for reflection and contemplation.

Materials chosen with safety in mind (non-toxic paints and adhesives).

Aprons provided for children.

WORKSHOPS ARE SITUATED IN A TOY SHOP. SHOP IS CLOSES PAST 4PM. CHILDREN MUST NOT INTERACT WITH SHOP STOCK DUE TO RISK OF DAMAGE. IF DAMAGE IS CAUSED YOU MAY BE LIABLE TO DAMAGE FEES. Thank you for your understanding.
